The Bridge Art Prize 2025 Finalist - 'I See You'

I See You, is a sculpture marrying two mediums Burled Tasmanian Myrtle and steel, exploring the harmonic relationship of form and figure. I see the bridge as a braided structure of time: the boy, the man, the father, and the artist. The figure: a river, a crossing, a causeway, a railway, a bridge. These ideas are the core of my design. The deep rippling colours, exploding rays, natural edge, and intricate features in the salvaged Myrtle grains uncover the battle scars of time from both Nature and Man. The steel structure is a safe canopy for the wood to rest and voice their story, without tethers or anchors. The two mediums uncover the aging form of time, brimming with the figures of its character. I See You and you matter.
